Wild Food Foraging Walks
Foraging is a wonderful way of connecting with and exploring nature, whilst enjoying fresh and seasonal wild foods direct from your local area. Join me, The Cramlington Forager, on a wild food foraging walk, as we discover and learn about the abundance of food which is available throughout the year. Enjoy meeting with like minded people as we immerse ourselves in nature and gather together to explore the wilder side of Cramlington and Northumberland.

Foraging courses run from March through to October, in locations across the North-East. Each walk is individually tailored to the season and location so what is on offer differs for each course. Tickets are released seasonally so please consider signing up to the mailing list for priority notice of when they become available.

Wild Food Foraging
You might be surprised to learn that you don't always have to head to the woods to find edible wild food. Hedgerows, parks and pathways are often hiding an incredibly diverse selection of wild foods throughout the year and this course will show you how, when and where to find them and identify them.

We'll cover around 10-15 plants, how to use them, their nutritional and herbal benefits. As in all of my walks, I'll go over how to forage safely and sustainably and any relevant legalities.

Foraging With Kids
New for 2023, the Foraging With Kids sessions are designed with younger children in mind. These sessions are slightly shorter than the Wild Food Foraging Walks and aims to be a more hands on sensory experience. We'll spend time exploring the area and getting to know between a handful of carefully chosen wild edibles that are easy to recognise and likely already familiar.
Foraging With Kids is designed for early years children, but all ages are welcome.
An Introduction to Foraging
An Introduction to Foraging is aimed at those who have perhaps never foraged before or would like to build up their confidence in foraging. These sessions are 2 hours longand will take place in a few select locations in Cramlington.
We'll cover an abundance of wild edibles, as well as discuss in depth the laws surrounding foraging and the safety aspects to consider. We'll explore how best to gather, use and preserve your harvests and seasonal recipe cards will also be included.

Foraging and Herbal Medicine
Many of the edible plants we forage for also have incredible herbal benefits, and this session will look at some of those benefits how we can make use of them, how to stay safe when supplementing with plant medicines and what kinds of preparations can be made with them.

These sessions will last for two hours and we'll cover around 10-15 plants, how to use them, and how to make the most of their herbal benefits. As in all of my walks, I'll go over how to forage safely and sustainably and any relevant legalities.

Wild Garlic Walks
An entire session dedicated to learning how to identify and forage for Wild Garlic - a true favourite amongst foragers. We'll talk about how to forager sustainably for this versatile little plant and why sustainability practices are so important when it comes to protecting our landscapes, as well as look at how to identify poisonous lookalikes which can be found lurking in the same woodlands. They will only be running during March - May or as the season allows.
Indoor Workshops
These workshops cover many different things, from foraging to herbal teas, in several different locations across the North-East. They provide a wonderful chance to sit down and talk about all things wild, in a warm, cosy atmosphere, while still enjoying the bounty of the outdoors.
The topics change depending on location and season, but all of the usual basics are still covered. The law, safety and sustainability are always important conversations to be had.
